WIPO medal awarded to Prof. Mozetič
Prof. Miran Mozetič, the scientific advisor of our department, was awarded the 2022 medal by International Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva, Switzerland. The WIPO Medal for Inventors was launched in 1979 to stimulate inventive and innovative activity worldwide and to recognise inventors’ contributions to national wealth and development. An international jury assessed the number of patents granted in countries whose patent offices perform complete examinations, significant technological and economic development based on technologies protected by the patents, establishment of vital companies, signed contracts with economic entities, and creation of new jobs. Prof. Mozetič has been granted 17 patents by offices with the complete examination (mostly EU and US offices), established a spin-off company Plasmadis Ltd, and developed numerous technologies based on plasma methods for improving surface properties of materials, some nowadays in mass production.
