The Department of Surface Engineering is organized within two national research programs: P2-0082 and P2-0405. P2-0082, titled “Thin Film Structures and Plasma Surface Engineering” is shared with the Department of Thin Films and Surfaces (F3) and managed by Prof. Dr Miran Mozetič.

The Department of Surface Engineering is also included in the research program P2-0405, titled “Fusion Technologies”, led by Prof. Dr Boštjan Končar from the Department of Reactor Engineering.
